Tucked back in the plain little town of Linthicum, Maryland is the Star Toys museum. It’s located in Meerkat Meade, a house which sounds like some sort of grand estate left by an elderly benefactor to those furry little rodents who once graced our TV screens. But don’t let the practically hidden driveway and fancy name fool you. Meerkat Meade is actually a small house, the yard overgrown and under cared for—none of it looks very special, at least until you step inside.

The first thing you need to know about the Edgar Allan Poe house is that it’s in the ghetto. And I’m talking a Baltimore ghetto, straight out of a scene from The Wire.
